Swooper vs. Windless Banner Flags, Which One is Right for You?

Swooper vs. Windless Banner Flags, Which One is Right for You? OnpointWares

When it comes to deciding which advertising flag you want, a lot of thought gets put into 3 key things: design, ease of assembly, and how it will look to passersby. However, a lot of flag owners don’t know the difference between a swooper flag and a windless flag. Other flags that are square, or teardrop shaped have their name associated with its shape to show the difference. However, swooper and windless flags practically look identical. So, what is the difference between these feather flags? Let’s break it down.

Swooper & Windless flags both offer the same rectangular flag design, with a curved top. This curve offers the flag the ability to blow in the wind. There is one major difference that sets these two flags apart: the seam.

Swooper Flags:

The seam on a swooper flag does not go all the way to the top of the flag. The purpose of this is to allow the top of the flag to flap around in the wind faster. For some business owners who encounter higher winds, the swooper flag is a great option to take advantage of that and use it to increase visibility. Think of it like a more informative dancing inflatable tube man. A video below of our ___ swooper flag demonstrates how this works.

Windless Flags:

The seam on windless flags goes all the way along the flag. For those impressed with the wavy nature of the swooper flag, you might believe that this is an inferior option, but there are practical reasons you should choose this flag. If you have lower wind conditions, this is the perfect flag for you because the sides will still flap in the wind. The key to a windless flag is in it’s name: the flag works with or without wind. Windless flags are great for indoor use. When assembled with a flat base, the windless flag stays stable. The swooper flag indoors functions well, but the top flap can fall down, and an indoor setting could look unkempt.

Assembly Required:

In the past, you may have needed poles that work with each specific design. Swooper & windless pole kits would have one piece to measure the length of the design seam. However, with a hybrid pole assembly kit, now there isn’t a need for a specific pole kit when you have a one-design-fits-all approach! Windless poles that are set up indoors would require a flat base, or another similar base and a sandbag to prevent the flag from being accidentally knocked over.

In short, the flag that is right for you depends on your needs. If you have an advantageous, outdoor location, the swooper flag is right for you. If you plan on hosting an indoor event, or you just like your design to be front and center outside, consider the windless flag. Shop our collection of feather flags and kits here!
